You could have seen the new medifast adverts that claim you can lose'20 pounds in 30 days with medifast.' plenty of people that I know think this is completely very unlikely and impractical. If you think about it, that is's about 5 pounds per week. Still, most of the people I talk to feel that is an unattainable number.
However , I hang out with a core bunch of people on medifast, so my opinion is that this isn't as impractical as it may seem. If you check around online, you'll likely find that these results aren't always rare. I don't say everyone hits or can get this goal, because that's's not the case. Many of us do. I have done it a few times in the past and have lost eighty pounds overall. No, I didn't have a 20 pound weight loss each month, but I hit this goal a few times and I actually welcome the 10 plus pound monthly weight control that's typical for me. It all adds up very quickly.
What's needed for these twenty pounds is staying conscientiously on the plan and adding in exercise. The protein-heavy / low carbs in the diet puts your body in ketosis so its burning it's own fat. This may help your metabolic rate tremendously already, but as soon as you add even a touch of exercise or movement, you're going to enhance your results. I suspect some fortunate soul might have had the twenty pound loss with out exercise, but I'd bet that's extremely rare.
In my private experience, when I do not exercise, I'm solidly in the 2 and pound per week weight control range. When I am doing, I am nearer to 3-5 pounds per week and am in a better mood. I do not do anything arduous. I just power walk with a weight vest along side my child as she rides her bike. Occasionally I use elastic bands as well and just these few things have really helped.
What is truly comes down to is eating fewer calories and carbs ( the diet will look after this ) and moving a tiny bit more than you have during the past ( this is up to you, but you can make this pleasurable by just heightening or stepping up the activities you already enjoy. ) do not get daunted by the addition of exercise. It doesn't must be anything excessively arduous. It just must be consistent so your body can get into the rythm to burn fat and feed the muscles. Honestly, after a couple of weeks your body starts to want it and because you will probably be seeing positive results, exercise will all of a sudden become a welcome activity instead of a feared one.
